Will I Learn Meditation for Beginners?

To stay healthy has become a major concern in everyone's life. Today, people struggle to remain free from tension & live a healthy life style. Healthy living comes from healthy thinking that is not only limited to positive thinking but to follow a constructive thinking.

People practice number of activities & exercises to keep themselves fit & young. Trying yoga, aerobics etc is not the only way to achieve a healthy happy life, instead its important to adopt healthy eating habits, practice mental health with proper meditation. When you meditate you may experience an exuberant sigh of relief.

For many of you, just the word 'meditation' may cause anxiety. I know it did for me. When I started, I could not meditate for beans. I just couldn't stop thinking.

Being an extremely active person, sitting calmly for 20 minutes without thinking can this be bring into practice?

If you have the same question, don't give up, this is normal for anyone learning to meditate. Perhaps what’s driving you on is the benefits of meditation such as:

  • Feeling healthier
  • Sleeping better
  • Being Calmer
  • Being Less stressed
  • Being More focused
  • Better concentration

When you practice meditation for beginners you will likely feel a weight lifted off of your shoulders. It’s like living with a huge debt load, losing your job and then learning that you won the lottery.

You may have tried to meditate unsuccessfully once or twice. I know it sounds easy to just sit down and clear your mind for 20 minutes. Don’t get discouraged, this is a normal experience for those trying to learn to meditate.

Besides sitting quietly with no thoughts going through your mind, there is another way, a much easier way to learn how to meditate. You can simply do an active form of meditation.

Don't believe that the only form of meditation is done by sitting still. Doing something that you love & give your full attention to can be a form of meditation.

If you have a run-away mind, an active form of meditation will probably be easier for you to begin. In an active form of meditation, your mind does not have to be completely quiet.

While being active, you are concentrating on something you love to do. By keeping your mind on one thing, you are helping your powers of focus and concentration. I'm sure you'll agree that this is much easier than thinking about nothing.

When you walk, feel the ground under your feet as you place each foot down and also feel the muscles in your legs as you move them forward. Co-ordinate your step with your breath, so each step takes the time of one breath.

As you are doing the walking meditation, the only thing that is important in your life is the step you are taking at that moment. Make each step as smoothly and calmly as you can. Keep your mind totally on the step you are taking, one step at a time.

In the beginning of this active meditation for beginners, your mind may wander. When you notice that it has, bring your attention back to the step you are taking. Once you get the hang of it you will be in a beautiful, calm and blissful state.
